People banned from SNL - Infamous moments in Saturday Night Live history

Saturday Night Live's producers, especially Lorne Michaels, have famously and dramatically banned for life several celebrities from ever appearing on the television show. Reasons for these bans vary, as sometimes they can be seen as a rational response to a star's grossly innappropriate on-stage behavior, while at other times the reasons are harder to understand as they stem from far more mild, or even superficial transgressions.

Laser beams would shoot out of it so it would be the first thing people flying in would see. Neon is wonderful, but it's old school."

Juiced-up' Sugar-Fueled Battery Could Power Portable Electronics

Juicing up your cell phone or iPod may take on a whole new meaning in the future. Researchers at Saint Louis University in Missouri have developed a fuel cell battery that runs on virtually any sugar source — from soft drinks to tree sap — and has the potential to operate three to four times longer on a single charge than conventional lithium ion batteries, they say.

Quentin Tarantino: 'I May Have Been Shakespeare in a Past Life'

The Pulp Fiction director feels he was born to write--because it's in his soul, and though he'd never seriously suggest he's prolific Shakespeare reincarnated, Tarantino can't rule the possibility out.He tells GQ magazine, "I've always had a thought maybe that I might have been Shakespeare in another life."I don't really believe that 100 percent, and I don't really care about Shakespeare, I've never been into Shakespeare, but then people are constantly bringing up all of these qualities in my work that mirror Shakespearean tragedies and moments and themes.

Every wonder what happens to the 10 people a year who die mid-flight? Well, if you're flying British Airways you get the final upgrade. Corpses fly first class.

From Times Online: Paul Trinder, who awoke to see the body at the end of his row, last week described the journey as "deeply disturbing", and complained that the airline dismissed his concerns by telling him to "get over it".

David Byrne, former lead singer of the Talking Heads and pretty much the coolest geek on the face of the planet, spoke out against DRM and big record labels this week at South by Southwest. He predicted that online sales would surpass CD sales by 2012, forcing labels to choose between accepting music sales as a loss leader for tours and merch, focusing more on marketing for many artists, or only shooting for mega-stars like Britney Spears.

Rice Omelette mouse cover

this excellent mouse cover shaped like a Japanese Omuraice (a rice omelette). This is a typical Japanese dish in which an omelette covers (more or less) a rice dish, with a little bit of ketchup on top, or curry, depending on your taste. And let’s not forget to add plenty of cheese. This is the perfect dish for kids and salarymen. Personally, I like this dish but always have a hard time being productive after wolfing it down. Also, this mouse cover is compatible with PCs and Macs, and even the WOW OS Home, Business and Ultimate.

Top Cow's Silvestri — who holds claim to the TV show's movie rights — tells us that the underground mercenaries are still in the running for a potential big-screen franchise. "It's one of those situations where we've had more than a couple scripts written that just haven't nailed it yet," he said, promising "when the script comes in that everyone is happy with, then it'll be made."

Why do pilots say "roger" on the radio?

Pilots and other military types say “roger” to acknowledge receipt of a message or instructions. “Roger” at one time was the phonetic designation for the letter R, which in turn stood for “received.” Why not just say "received"? From a safety perspective, it makes sense to use standardized language, particularly when dealing with international operations. An American pilot may not understand German, but they both understand aviation terminology. The International Civil Aviation Organization oversees this standardization and disseminates it accordingly.
